The encyclopedia contained within the WordIQ website is based on the Wikipedia encyclopedia. Wikipedia is a Web-based, multi-language, free-content encyclopedia written collaboratively by volunteers and sponsored by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation. Its purpose is to create and distribute a free international encyclopedia in as many languages as possible. The English version of Wikipedia contains over 2 million articles and is growing day by day. Volunteers are free to provide content and changes to it's content thus creating a collective of knowledge that is unmatched in both depth and breadth. Wikipedia articles have, in the past, been cited by various researchers, websites, and mass media and is considered one of the most trusted sources of information on the Internet.
