- Fastest Lap: Michael Schumacher 1m 09.298s
- This is the infamous race where Rubens Barrichello was ordered (rather obviously) to pull over at the last corner of the last lap in order to allow teammate Michael Schumacher to victory; the resultant derision by the fans in the audience (and throughout the world) eventually led to the banning of team orders which artificially determined a race outcome. Sensing the anger in the crowd over the "staged" outcome, Schumacher pushed Barrichello to the top step of the podium, resulting in a $1 million fine.
