The 2004-05 NHL season would be the 88th regular season of the National Hockey League. The season is in jeopardy pending a decision from the NHL and NHL Players Association.
Regular Season
The 2004-05 regular season has been delayed due to an announced lockout on September 15, by Commissioner Gary Bettman. NHL and NHL Players Association have not yet agreed to a new contract, but negotiations are ongoing. According to the International Ice Hockey Federation, there are currently 194 NHL players on IIHF teams, most of whom have a contract clause to return to the NHL should the regular season be saved.
