From the Zork series game Zork Grand Inquisitor, released by Activision in 1997, AFGNCAAP is the name given to the game's player by the former Dungeon Master, Dalboz of Gurth. It is an acronym that stands for Ageless, Faceless, Gender-Neutral, Culturally-Ambiguous Adventure Person.
It is a joke on the fact that in most first-person Adventure games, the player character has no identity or name. Near the beginning of Zork Grand Inquisitor, Dalboz asks the player his or her name, and, receiving no response, chooses AFGNCAAP, which he uses throughout the game.
AFGNCAAP began his or her adventure as a Perma-suck salesman in the Eastlands town of Port Foozle, in 1067 GUE, during the Inquisition's magic ban, but after nearly being caught with illegal magic contraband (The magic lamp containing Dalboz's spirit), was forced into the underground.
While underground, AFGNCAAP collected a large number of magic spells and used them to collect the totems of three trapped spirits (The Griff, The Brogmoid, and Lucy Flathead), travel back in time to find the three lost magic artifacts (The Skull of Yoruk, The Cube of Foundation, and The Coconut of Quendor) and restore magic to the empire.
After the adventure was over, Dalboz was released back to the Ethereal Planes of Atrii, and AFGNCAAP was made the fourth Dungeon Master of Zork.
