AIDA is an acronym used in marketing that describes a very common list of events that is very often undergone when you are selling something, whether it is an ice cream or a high-tech gadget.

  1. A - Attention - to get the attention of the customer.
  2. I - Interest - to get the customer interested.
  3. D - Desire - to get the customer to desire your product/service.
  4. A - Action - to get the customer to take action, i.e. buy.
  5. S - Satisfaction - to get the customer satisfacted so that they may repeat the above process again and again and starting all over from A.

Nowadays you usually add another letter and thus it is called AIDA(s) where the 's' stands for the last step.
