AK Press is an independent, cooperatively owned publisher and book distributor that specialises in radical and anarchist literature. They operate online through www.akpress.org and with its bookmobile that travels around the country (to protests, activist conferences, etc; mostly by request). Their books - on topics including anarchism, globalization, and animal rights, amongst others - are often difficult to find through mainstream outlets. They also sell clothing, buttons, stickers, and various "anarchist props" like an upside down map of the world and the red and black flag of anarcho-syndicalism.

Branches of AK Press are found in Edinburgh, Scotland and Oakland (formerly San Francisco), California, United States. The London collective is closing. AK Press works without bosses, where every member has equal say and equal pay. A catalog can be received, free of cost, by writing for one, or emailing for one. Contact information is found on their websites. Prisoners receive a 40% discount on purchases.

Some have criticized AK Press for it's Barnes and Noble-like effect on the radical publishing scene. Because they have such a large catalogue, as well as low prices and global distribution range, some radical publishers have suffered financial losses as well as closures.
