A Night to Remember is a book by Walter Lord about the sinking of the luxury liner RMS Titanic in 1912.

A 1958 movie based on the book and with the same title is considered by critics and fans to be the most accurate of several movie portrayals of the disaster. It was the best-known film about the Titanic prior to the 1997 release of Titanic by James Cameron, which, unlike A Night to Remember, does not attempt historical accuracy. The book contained the first ever complete published passenger-list - and every character in the film is found in the list.

It was filmed in England, and it was directed by Roy Ward Baker. Its stark black-and-white photography (see also color film) evoked the period feeling of the events pictured. The depiction of the sinking of the ship is considered to be accurate for the time, though evidence uncovered decades later by scientific exploration revealed the fact that the Titanic literally broke in two as it was sinking. The "A night to remember" has often been referred to as a docu-fiction. Probably the best - ever.

The movie stars Michael Goodliffe, Frank Lawton, Kenneth More, Tucker McGuire, Honor Blackman, George Rose, Laurence Naismith, Kenneth Griffith and David McCallum. It was adapted by Eric Ambler and directed by Roy Baker.
