Aayla Secura - Definition and Overview

Aayla Secura is a Jedi Knight who appeared in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

The character is remarkable in that it was originally created for the Expanded Universe, but, after a piece of striking artwork captured George Lucas's eye, the character was placed in the film.

Her appearance in the film is brief, and she sees more action in the Star Wars Republic comic series and Star Wars: Jedi series by Dark Horse Comics.

Aayla is a female Twi'lek who was always strong with the Force. When she was training as a Padawan, her master was Quinlan Vos, a Kiffar who had recently lost his memories but mantained his Jedi ways. When the Clone Wars began, Aayla became a general in charge of a garrison of clone troopers.

Aayla will be reappearing in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
