The Adam Smith Institute is a think tank based in the United Kingdom, named after the father of modern economics Adam Smith. It is non-partisan, working with politicians of all parties, and espouses free market and classical liberal views. It method is to create practical policy options for policy-makers, created in the light of Public Choice Theory, and has done much to re-establish market economics, individual incentives and choices, and economic flexibility in the place of state direction and control.
It was founded by two former University of St Andrews students, Dr. Madsen Pirie and Dr. Eamonn Butler.
