An address book is a book in which contact details (e.g. address, telephone number, e-mail address, fax number, mobile phone number) are kept. Details are normally stored in alphabetical order of people's names. The term also denotes software designed for this purpose. See, for example Apple Address Book.
Import and Export of Software Address Books
Address book can be imported and exported from an Internet suite and/or operating system.
The common file formats for these operations are:
- LDIF (*.ldif, *.ldi), the more reliable.
- Tab delimited (*.tab, *.txt)
- Comma separated (*.csv)
