Admiralty, Hong Kong - Definition and Overview

Admiralty is an area of Hong Kong located at the eastern end of Central and Western district, and bordered by Wanchai district to the east and by Victoria harbour to the north. It is so-called because it was formerly the location of the HMS Tamar naval base (which in fact had never actually been the Admiralty). It is considered part of Central.

Admiralty (MTR) metro station was built on the former site of Hong Kong dockyards, which had been built in 1878, and demolished in the 1970s.

The Pacific Place shopping mall is located in Admiralty.

Admiralty is known in Chinese as 金鐘, meaning "Golden Bell".
