Air Namibia - Definition and Overview |

Air Namibia is a commercial airline which was founded in 1946 as South West Air Transport, this name later changed into South West Airways. The name was then changed to Namib Air in 1978 and the government of Namibia acquired majority shareholdings in 1982 making this airline the national airline of that country. It was renamed again to the current name of Air Namibia after the independence of the country in 1990.
