Aito (愛東町; -cho) is a town located in Echi District, Shiga, Japan.
As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 5,826 and a density of 142.48 persons per km². The total area is 40.89 km².
On February 11, 2005, Aito will merge with Yokaichi city and Eigenji, Gokasho, and Koto towns to form a new city called Higashi Omi.
