Al-Lat was a pre-Islamic Arabian fertility goddess. She is condemned in the Qur'an in association with the goddesses Manat and Al-Uzza; the three are often referred to as the "trinity of desert goddesses". "Al-Lat" is a contraction which etymologically means the goddess; her name occurs in earlier Safaitic graffiti as han-'Ilat. She was also worshipped by the Nabataeans.
