Alan Colmes is a liberal talk radio host and co-host of FOX News Channel's political debate program Hannity and Colmes. He was a well known radio talk show personality in the New York City area before being asked to appear on the Fox show.
Colmes has also written a book, Red, White & Liberal: How Left is Right and Right is Wrong (ISBN 0060562978) which was released in October 2003.

Criticisms
Colmes has the unusual distinction of being criticized from both the left and the right. Although he is often identified as a liberal, many liberals view him as being a pushover on the Hannity and Colmes show, providing a weak counter to the conservative Sean Hannity. Liberal commentators often regard Colmes as milquetoast; Al Franken, in his book Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them prints Colmes' name in smaller font throughout his text to emphasize this.
In 1995, Colmes asserted to USA Today that he's "a moderate." He also hosts his own radio show, FOX News Live with Alan Colmes.
