Alexandro Jodorowsky, born on February 7, 1929. Chilean artist, writer, actor, director, producer, composer, mime and comic-maker. Avant garde filmmaker famous for his films El Topo, a surreal, mystic western and a visionary film called "The Holy Mountain". He moved early in his life to Mexico and made nearly all of his films there. In 1962 he created the "Panic Movement" along with Roland Topor and Fernando Arrabal.
He also worked with famous artists such as Marcel Marceu, Maurice Chevalier, Orson Welles, Salvador Dali, H.R. Giger, Dan O'Bannon, Jean "Moebius" Giraud and Pink Floyd.
John Lennon was a fan of Jodorowsky's work and had some hand in bringing his films to venues in the U.S.
In 2000 he won the Jack Smith Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chicago Underground Film Festival. He is currently working on a new graphic novel for the US market.
