Allan Ramsey (April 26, 1711 - August 10, 1784), was a Scottish Rococo painter. He studied in London, in Rome, and in Naples where he was a student of Francesco Solimena. He specialized in portraits and painted his first portrait of George III, then Prince of Wales, in 1757. Ten years later, in 1767 he was appointed official portrait painter to George III.
