Allestree is well noted for being one of the more pleasant suburbs of Derby.
It is situated on the A6, four miles (6 km) north of Derby City Centre.
The main areas of interest in Allestree are Allestree Park which includes a lake, golf course and woods, and Park Farm shopping centre.
There are two primary schools and a secondary school, a few pubs and churches and very little else in the way of entertainment.
The University of Derby is situated on the south-western edge of Allestree, on the Kedleston Road.
House prices in Allestree are higher than the local average, due partly to the proximity of the popular Woodlands School.
