Alleyway - Definition and Overview |
Alleyway is a Game Boy game published by Nintendo in 1989. It is based on the classic arcade game Breakout, also known as Arkanoid.
The player controls a small pad that has to keep a ball from falling from the playing field, bouncing it against a number of bricks. Each time a ball hits a brick, it disappears. When all the bricks are done, the player goes to the next level, where another pattern of bricks appear. In some bonus levels, there are brick patterns looking like Super Mario characters, and Mario is also the man sitting inside the pad and controlling it.
