Aloysius Lilius (Luigi Lilio, 1510 – 1576) was a physician from Calabria in Italy (at that time part of the kingdom of Naples). Lilius was one of the principal inventors of the Gregorian Calendar reform, but died before he had his plans accepted. His brother Antonio presented them to the reform committee of Pope Gregory XIII.
