Alton is a village in the county of Staffordshire, England, north of Uttoxeter.
Alton Towers was a mansion owned by the Earls of Shrewsbury and designed by August Pugin, with the gardens and park designed by Capability Brown. There is also a castle high above the River Churnet.
Nowadays Alton Towers is a leisure theme park.
