American Medical Response or AMR is the largest ambulance provider in the United States (public or private). It is a wholly owned subsidiary of transportation giant Laidlaw International, Inc., and is based out of Denver, Colorado.
AMR operates in three regions and has over 250 community based operations in 32 states. Its 18,000 employees, consisting of doctors, nurses, paramedics and EMTs plus support staff provide both emergency and non-emergency ambulance and rescue services. AMR operates over 4,000 ambulances and patient transfer vehicles and conducts over four million patient transfers a year.
