The Americans for Gun Safety Foundation is an organization that is ostensibly for gun safety but is seen by some as a front organization for gun banners.
After the original November 25, 2003 broadcast of 24, Kiefer Sutherland broke character to address the issue of gun safety, most likely to waive the Fox Broadcasting Company of liability in case someone attempted to recreate the Russian roulette scenes. Sutherland gave a promotion for an organization called the Americans For Gun Safety Foundation.
The Americans for Gun Safety Foundation is a project of the Tides Center, and a Section 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It "seeks to educate Americans on existing gun laws and new policy options for reducing access to guns by criminals and children and to promote responsible gun ownership. The AGS Foundation supports the rights of individuals to own firearms."
The AGS Foundation has done studies of background checks at gun shows and the way states develop mental health records and keep track of those prohibited from purchasing a gun because of mental illness.
The AGS Foundation webpage has a link to their "advocacy organization," called AGS.
