Amy Winehouse (born 1984 in London, United Kingdom) is a jazz singer. Her debut album, Frank, was launched in 2003 and entered the upper levels of the UK album chart in 2004 when it was nominated for Brit Awards in the categories of "British Female Solo Artist" and "British Urban Act". Later in 2004 the album made the short-list for the Mercury Music Prize.
Her voice can be described as a mix of Shirley Bassey and Billie Holiday.
