The Anderson Valley Advertiser is a small but well known newspaper. Founded in 1955 and published by Bruce Anderson in Anderson Valley, California since 1984. Originally a local community based paper, The AVA, under a motto borrowed from the French Revolution:

As of November, 2004 the Anderson Valley Advertiser was sold to a former reporter for the paper. Bruce Anderson now lives in Eugene, Oregon, where he runs a new paper called The AVA Oregon.
