Andre Reed - Definition and Overview

Andre Reed (born January 29, 1964 in Allentown, Pennsylvania) is a former professional American football player who played wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills of the NFL.

Reed is considered one of the best wide receivers to ever play the game. He holds numerous NFL receiving records, including fourth most all-time NFL receptions (behind only Jerry Rice, Cris Carter and Tim Brown). He also holds the record for sixth most all-time NFL receiving yards.

With the Bills, Reed played in four consecutive Super Bowls in 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994. He was selected to the Pro Bowl seven times.

Reed began his football career at Allentown's Dieruff High School, where he played quarterback, and then at Pennsylvania's Kutztown University, where he was a standout wide receiver.

Reed is expected to ultimately enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame and will become eligible for induction in 2006.
