Andre Williams, born Zeffrey Williams in Bessemer, Alabama, USA in 1936, is a living legend of R&B and R&R. He first started his career with Fortune Records, recording tunes such as "Bacon Fat", "Greasy Chicken", "Jail Bait" and "Pass the Biscuits" as well as writing "Twine Time" for Alvin Cash & The Crawlers and "Shake a Tailfeather" for The Five Dutones. He went on working for Berry Gordy's Motown record company and did production work for artists such as Ike & Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, The Dramatic and The Chi-Lites. He also wrote songs for Funkadelic.
Williams, who was nicknamed Mr. Rhythm by comedian Redd Foxx, resurfaced in the 1990s with an album for Swamp Dogg's SDEG imprint, and later with the equally sleazy sleaze rock album "Silky" (1998) for In the Red Records, paving the way for his most recent "The Black Godfather" CD. In 1999, he recorded a country album with the Sadies, called "Red Dirt".
