Andross Andross

Andross - Definition and Overview

Andross is a fictional character from the Star Fox series universe, or Lylat System. He is an orangutan-like creature, albeit one that is only a floating head and disembodied hands. The Star Fox games generally set him as the main villain, trying to take over the Lylat System, especially his native planet Corneria. He is Fox McCloud (the protagonist)'s archnemesis. His Japanese name is Andorf.

He is a brilliant scientist, but he uses his intelligence for evil. He was exiled by General Pepper to the barren deserted planet Venom, because of his dangerous experiments being performed on Corneria. Five years later, General Pepper noticed that Andross and his associates were performing strange activity on the planet Venom. A mercenary unit called Star Fox was formed, initially consisting of James McCloud, Peppy Hare, and Pigma Dengar. When the original Star Fox team arrived at Venom, Pigma Dengar traitoriously defected to Andross' side, and Andross captured James McCloud, father of Fox McCloud. (Although it was believed that James did not survive the encounter, he returned in Star Fox 64 to help Fox escape from Venom.) Peppy Hare narrowly escaped from Venom and returned to Corneria to inform Fox McCloud about his father's fate. General Pepper turned to a brand new Star Fox team lead by Fox McCloud in order to vanquish Andross, save Corneria, and free the Lylat System from Andross. The new Star Fox team consisted of Fox McCloud, Peppy Hare, Slippy Toad, and Falco Lombardi. General Pepper told them that Andross was about to invade the Lylat System and seize Corneria. Andross was guarded by the Star Wolf team. The Star Fox team went on a perilous journey to Venom, defeated the Star Wolf team, and went to the interior of Venom, where Andross was, and defeated him.

Andross's nephew, Andrew Oikonny, is a member of the mercenary Star Wolf team.

Eight years later, Andross discovered the ancient power of the "'Krazoa"'. He was behind General Scales' evil plot against Dinosaur Planet. He revived himself by reducing Krystal, who has the ability to channel the Krazoa power, to Fox McCloud's damsel in distress, by means of trapping her into a crystal, shortly after Krystal released the first Krazoa, when completing the Test of Observation. In order to free Krystal, Fox McCloud finished what she started, as the first Krazoa told him at Moon Mountain Pass. Shortly after he released her from the trap of a crystal atop the Krazoa Palace, the staff returned to Krystal's hands, and then Andross awakened. Immediately afterwards, Fox McCloud went into his Arwing to fight Andross once again. In the middle of the fight, Falco reappeared, and they defeated Andross together.

Andross appeared as two different trophies in Super Smash Bros. Melee; one as his Star Fox 64 self and one as his self from the original Star Fox game for the Super NES.
