FAMILY ANILIDAE (cylinder snakes)

All of these species in the family Anilidae possess a vestigial pelvic girdle which is visible as cloacal spurs. There are 3 genera and about 10 species. All are ovoviviparous. Food is mainly amphibians and reptiles.
