Antoine Lahad (born 1937) was the leader of the South Lebanon Army (SLA) from 1984 until the SLA's collapse in 2000, following Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon.
In 1988, an attempt was made on Lahad's life by a Lebanese woman named Soha Bechara. Though seriously injured, Lahad survived the assassination attempt, while his would-be assassin was lauded by many in Lebanon and beyond as a heroine.
Following the collapse of his militia, Lahad fled to Israel. He has family members in France, but the French authorities have denied him permission to live in France.
