Apocalypse of Baruch - Definition and Overview

The Apocalypse of Baruch is a Jewish apocryphal or pseudepigraphical text written in the late 1st century AD, after the fall of Jerusalem to the Romans in 70 AD, which seemed to the author to signify the imminent end of the world (the apocalypse). It is not part of the canon of either the Jewish or Christian Bible. The Apocalypse exists in two quite different versions, one in Syriac and one in Greek. It is frequently republished and cited by modern apocalyptic Christian sects.
