The Marauders are a group of fictional characters, supervillain in the Marvel Comics universe and enemies of the X-Men. They are agents of Mister Sinister, and are best known for their involvement in the "Mutant Massacre", in which they slaughtered the mutant community known as the Morlocks.
The Marauders include:
- Arclight (Philippa Sontag), who possesses superhuman strength and the ability to generate blinding light.
- Blockbuster, a superhumanly strong behemoth who's stood up to punches from Thor.
- Harpoon, who can energize objects and then hurl them toward living beings, causing those who are impaled to dissolve into energy.
- Malice, a disembodied psychic entity who can possess individuals by entering through the areas of their minds that regulate anger and aggression.
- Prism, a humanoid glass-like being who can project energy from his body.
- Riptide (Janos Quested), who can spin very fast and hurl sharp weapons with lethal effect.
- Sabretooth (Victor Creed), the longtime enemy of Wolverine.
- Scalphunter (Grey Crow), a walking arsenal who wears parts of various weapons on his armor for easy assembly.
- Scrambler, who can cancel out other mutants' powers with violent feedback.
- Vertigo, who can induce a sensation of vertigo in others; she was originally a member of Magneto's Savage Land Mutates.
Although several Marauders died during the "Morlock Massacre", they reappeared during the "Inferno" crossover; it was later revealed that Mister Sinister has created numerous clones of all of the Marauders save for Sabretooth, whose regenerative abilities made cloning difficult. Uncanny X-Men #350 revealed that Gambit had organized the group, although he was never actually a member.
