The Argyle Diamond mine is located to the southwest of Lake Argyle in the Matsu Ranges. This is within the Kimberley region Western Australia. It is the only known source of pink diamonds. The mine is about 600 metres deep and an exploration decline is being constructed in 2004 to see if it is viable to mine diamonds from the diamoniferous pipes. This is one mine where the diamonds occur in lamproite rather than kimberlite.
The mine has encouraged local employment and has a large number of indigenous local people working within the mine.
