Arthur Jones the inventor of the 'Nautilus' exercise machines. inventer of the Nautilus pullover, first sold in 1970. This pullover was the first upper back machine to provide 250 degree of moverment against resistance. The simple principle of Nautilus machines is that they automaticly vary the resisitance in line with the bodys (muscles) ability to exert force. Arthur Jones showed with his machines and with his reasearch, that maximum strength improvments could be provided in very short workouts. He provided meaningful information to strength training and exercise. Proved many times over in research, such as the West Point study. Following the success of Nautilus, he went further to develop 'MedX' machines.
Arthur Jones, wrote, complied and published Bullitians #1 & #2. Which provide the bases of information on the subject of High Intensity Exercise. These ideas have been developed, defined and expanded on, by the likes of Dr Ellington Darden, Mike Mentzer, Dr Wayne Wescott over the past years.A highly underated person in the feild of exercise and exercise research.
