Associate Justice - Definition and Overview

Associate Justice or Puisne (pronounced puny) Justice is the title for a member of a judicial panel who is not the Chief Justice.

There are eight Associate Justices on the United States Supreme Court, and eight Puisne Justices on the Supreme Court of Canada.
