Audiology is the study of hearing; its practicioners are audiologists. Employing various testing strategies (e.g. hearing tests, otoacoustic emissions), audiology aims to understand whether someone can hear properly, which parts of hearing (high or low tones, middle-ear or inner-ear causes) are affected, and what type of correction (e.g. hearing aids) may be necessary.
