Augustana College (South Dakota) - Definition and Overview

Augustana College is a residential liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

The college is located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on a 100 acre (400,000 m²) campus. Originally founded by Norwegian settlers in Chicago, Illinois in 1860 the college claimed homes in Chicago, Paxton, Illinois, Marshall, Wisconsin, Beloit, Iowa and Canton, Wisconsin before finally settling in Sioux Falls in 1918.

The Augustana College Vikings participate in NCAA Division II athletics in the North Central Conference.
