Austral Austral

Austral - Definition and Overview

Austral Airlines was born from the merging of two Argentinian airlines known as ALA and Austral. The resulting airline has served Argentinian domestic routes since the 1950s until it became part of Argentina's national airline (Aerolíneas Argentinas). Although it is actually a separate airline, it shares most of its fleet and personnel with Aerolíneas since they became part of the same company by 1990. Its fleet of 12 planes is composed of MD-80s and B-737s.

IATA Code

Austral uses the IATA designator code AU.
