The Australian Conservation Foundation is an Australian non-profit, membership-based environment group that is involved in a wide variety of areas, including political lobbying, research and education as well as practical work in in conservation. The Foundation's areas of interest include natural heritage protection, water resource management and global warming, endangered species, uranium mining and sustainable cities.

History

The Foundation was established in 1964, after Francis Radcliffe was inspired by a memo from the Duke of Edinburgh to establish a national conservation body. Sir Garfield Barwick, Chief Justice of the High Court, was appointed the first President.
