Australian National Flag Association - Definition

The Australian National Flag Association is a lobby group founded (on 1983-10-05) in response to suggestions that the current Australian flag is not appropriately representative of the nation, and should be changed. The group, which is closely associated with the Australian monarchist lobby, strongly supports the retention of the existing flag, which consists of a defaced British blue ensign.

On 2001-09-03 the ANFA presented the Centenary Flag, an Australian national flag inscribed with a centenary message, to the Prime Minister, John Howard. The warrant for flying this flag was then issued on 2001-09-20 in Commonwealth Gazette Number S382.
