Avalanche (comics) - Definition and Overview

Avalanche is a fictional character appearing in Marvel Comics. He is a mutant, and can send earthquakes of varying sizes through the ground, as well as deteriorate or disintegrate anything other than living tissue (such as a human body). Originally from the Greek island of Crete, his name is Dominic Petros, and he has served in several incarnations of Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Freedom Force, and was forcibly recruited into Banshee's X-Corps.

In the X-Men: Evolution cartoon, his name is Lance Alvers, and he comes from the same city as Kitty Pryde. As his failing attempts to impress Kitty his love for her keeps growing even with being mocked by his team the Brotherhood (Quicksilver, Toad, Blob, and the Scarlet Witch).
