BSD Daemon - Definition and Overview

BSD Daemon is the BSD operating system's mascot.

Many folks have asked about the BSD daemon's name. The proper name is just "BSD Daemon". A Walnut Creek advertiser wrongfully named the BSD daemon as "Chuck". He is sometimes called by the name "Beastie." The BSD Daemon is a daemon and usually carries a pitchfork. The original design of the BSD Daemon was by Marshall Kirk McKusick. The current popular version of BSD Daemon is by animation director John Lasseter.
