The band Bad English formed in 1988, reuniting keyboardist Jonathan Cain with singer/bassist John Waite, his former bandmate in The Babys. Cain, guitarist Neal Schon and drummer Deen Castronovo had enjoyed enormous success in Journey and the three continued on to form Bad English with Waite after Journey disbanded. The first album, eponomously named, was a big seller with 2 hit singles, but the second album's single didn't crack the top 40. Bad English ceased recording after this disappointing outcome.
