Bari is a region (gobolka) in northern Somalia. Its capital is Boosaaso. It is bordered by the Somalian regions of Sanaag, Sool and Nugaal, the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean. Bari is the largest region of Somalia.
It was particularly hard hit by the tsunamis caused by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. Over a hundred people were killed on the Hafun peninsula and the coastal road to Somalia was severely damaged.
