The Battle of Umm Diwaykarat on November 24, 1899 marked the final end of Muhammad Ahmad's short-lived Sudanese empire, when Anglo-Egyptian forces under the command of Horatio Kitchener wiped out what was left of the Mahdist armies after the equally disasterous Battle of Omdurman a year earlier.
After Omdurman the Mahdist forces-25 thousands soldiers retreated southward from Khartoum to Kordofan. Mahdist has under reign territory of Kordofan, Dar Fur and territory on border with Ethiopia. In october 1899 Englishmen get information from traitors that Kalifa is among his native Baggara on west from Kusti (Kaka) in Kordofan. Kitchener sent formation- 8000 soldiers under command of general Orde Wingate.
21 XI Wingate marches from Kusti to the mountains of Kordofan.
22 XI his soldiers destroyed mahdist supply unit. Wingate gets information about place in which is Kalifa.
23 XI reconnaiscence units find kalifa camp.
Sudanese forces has at least 10000 people. Kalif after getting information about Englishmen decide to fight. During nightWingate comes to camp from east and north site. About 5 am Mahdist begin attack which collapse under fire of maxims. kalifa tries to stop escaping soldiers but after sometimes he understand that all is lost. He calls main leaders to sit with him on farwa- it is yeanling skin. If muslims generals doesn't agree on capitulation during lost battle they sit on this skin and wait for death.- His guards stand in a face of British. Kalifa and others leaders pray for. British opens fire form machine rifles.
Losses of Mahdist 1000 killed and wounded, british captured the rest among them was son of kalifa Osman and one of emir Yunis. Last leader of mahdist Omar Digba was caught in january 1900 last free territories od Dar fur was captured in 1916
