 Bayston Hill - Definition

Bayston Hill is a large village in the English county of Shropshire.

It lies 3 miles south of the county town of Shropshire, Shrewsbury, and is regarded by many as a suburb of that town. It has good transport links - the A49 and A5 both run around the village. There was once a railway station too, but this has closed (although the line is still open).

The village has a parish council which covers a parish that also acts as a borough council ward (returning two councillors to the borough council) and a county council electoral division (returning one councillor to the county council). Its population is, according to the 2001 census, 5247 - which is larger than many towns in Shropshire (such as Clun, Craven Arms or Bishop's Castle).

There is a library, school and a small supermarket present.

To the south lies Lyth Hill and to the east lies Sharpstone Hill (the latter now being a major quarry and the hill now barely exists).
