The Beis Yakov School was founded in 1917 by Rabbi Johann Wachowsky. It was started as a Jewish boy's preperatory but quickly became a women's school for dance and tapestry weaving. Some of its alumni include the illustrious Barbara Streisand as well as Lawrence Welk.
