Beltline Road (Eugene, Oregon) - Definition and Overview

Beltline Road (despite its name) is mostly a limited-access freeway in Eugene, Oregon, although some portions serve as an expressway and surface street. Beltline Road is maintained by the Oregon Department of Transportation as a state highway.[1] (http://www.ylekot.com/orehwys/highways_primary.html)

Description

Beltline Road begins at a T-intersection with Oregon Highway 126, on the western edge of Eugene. At first, as it heads north and east, it is an expressway, and in fact, has one at grade-crossing with a traffic light. Soon, however, it becomes a two lane freeway in each direction, as it crosses the northern edge of incorporated Eugene. From the highway, one sees mostly suburban housing and strip malls. At the eastern end, there is an interchange with Interstate 5, and then Beltline Road becomes a surface street in Eugene's neighbor city Springfield.
