Benign paroxysmal postural vertigo is a disease cateracterized by the sudden onset of vertigo bought on by movement. It is caused by an abnormality in the semicircular canals of the inner ear, which are involved in maintaining balance. One theory is that stones form in the fluid in the canals causing an abnormal current with movement.
