Beonex Communicator is a web-browser and email/news client based on Mozilla.

Beonex Communicator is targeted at individuals and corporate end-users, for the Windows, Linux, Mac OS, and FreeBSD platforms.

Beonex Communicator belongs to the Mozilla family of browsers, i.e. is a sibling of Netscape 7. Beonex Communicator contains

  • Navigator - web-browser
    • eases searching the Internet, similar to Apple's Sherlock on Macintosh
  • Mailnews - email/news client
    • supports multiple IMAP, POP3 and/or news accounts for each user
  • Composer - web page editor

Beonex Business Services offers consulting, development and support services related to Beonex Communicator.

According to Ben Bucksch of Beonex Business Services, as of 2004-03-02, no new releases are planned until the Mozilla Foundation decides its future policy, which also determines the future of the Beonex Communicator project.

The latest release is Beonex Communicator 0.8.2-stable. It is based on Mozilla 1.0.2 and is available for Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD. Mac OS X is still at 0.8.1-stable. The currently available Beonex Communicator 0.8 builds have several known security bugs, so for the time being, Beonex advises the use of 1.7.x builds available from mozilla.org.
